Senior Sales Manager - Land Systems

Up to £75k

About the Role:

Reporting to the Business Development Director, this role involves leading and managing business acquisition for the land business sector, as part of the broader Sales team. The Senior Land Sales Manager will work closely with Bids and Proposals colleagues and will also have line management responsibility for the Land Sales Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Order Intake Achievement: Meet the order intake budget for the Land sector in line with the overall company budget.
  • Business Development: Identify new business opportunities in the Land sector and qualify them based on company strategy, capability requirements, competition, resource availability, and Probability of Win (PWin).
  • Pipeline Management: Develop and maintain a robust pipeline of Land sector prospects and opportunities, managing the order pipeline effectively.
  • Bid Accountability: Take responsibility for specific bids and proposals, ensuring the 'voice of the customer' is represented.
  • Relationship Building: Foster strong relationships with key land prime contractors, systems integrators, and end users in the UK, Europe, and internationally.
  • Strategic Contribution: Provide insights and contributions for the Land sector to the company strategy and investment cases.
  • Sales Forecasting: Input Land sector data into company sales forecasts and budgets.
  • Executive Presentations: Present summaries of new Land prospects and opportunities to the Senior Leadership Team for review and decision-making.
  • Market Intelligence: Gather and share relevant competitor and market intelligence for the Land sector.
  • Team Management: Manage and develop the Land Sales Manager.
  • Cross-Sector Leadership: Lead or participate in non-Land campaigns and bids as required.
  • Compliance: Ensure all activities comply with Anti-Bribery and Corruption Policies, including those involving partners and company representatives.

What we are looking for:

  • Proven Sales Success: Demonstrated track record of success in previous sales or business development roles within the defence industry.
  • Sector Knowledge: Good understanding of the UK, European, and international land sectors.
  • Collaborative Team Player: Strong team player with a collaborative mindset.
  • Strategic Thinker: Ability to identify and capitalise on business opportunities, understanding their impact on overall business strategy.
  • International Market Experience: Direct experience operating in international defence markets.
  • Pressure Management: Capable of working effectively under pressure, handling multiple opportunities and campaigns simultaneously.
  • Customer Relationship Skills: Strong ability to build and maintain customer relationships, with a deep understanding of their challenges.
  • Technology Acumen: Broad understanding of emerging technologies (software, hardware, network) and their potential relevance to Chess products and services.
  • Ethical Standards: Maintains high ethical standards in all professional interactions and decisions.
